Using LinkedIn to find a Job and Network in your Industry
Utilizing LinkedIn to get a new Line of work and Network in your Industry On the off chance that you've never known about LinkedIn, you're as of now behind. As indicated by their landing page, more than 55 million experts have a place with the systems administration site, including each CEO of a Fortune 500 organization! At this moment, consistently, LinkedIn gets another part. The majority have spoken with their profiles: LinkedIn is an essential asset to expand the quantity of gets in touch with you have in your own industry just as others, and in the event that you need to be an effective representative in the new decade, you'll need to join. Luckily the site is free, so there's no speculation other than time in joining the site. The initial step you'll need to take is making a profile for yourself. Keep in mind, LinkedIn isn't Facebook. You would prefer not to be messy here. Truth be told, the more expert looking your profile, the better. Similarly likewise with a resume, triple check your spelling and accentuation to guarantee there are no gaffs or errors that could harm your open picture. Since despite the fact that the main individuals who can see your whole profile are inside your contacts list, this profile will be open as in it will be utilized to assist you with landing new positions, new customers, and new contacts. On the off chance that you need to guarantee you have an occupation through the following decade utilizing LinkedIn, don't be languid on your profile. You'll need to give your work status, your industry or exchange, and your area, just as your instructive history. You at that point have the alternative to permit LinkedIn to utilize your email contact rundown to discover contacts for LinkedIn. I suggest letting LinkedIn do this on the off chance that you need a forceful methodology for finding new contacts in ventures other than your own, or even inside your own industry. Be that as it may, irregular reaching is somewhat similar to shooting buckshot into the sky, and trusting it hits a winged animal. Sharpshooter focusing for productivity is somewhat better. Be that as it may, everybody is unique, and you may get a kick out of the chance to play the numbers game with contacts. The more you have, the more probable one will be good for you. When you have your profile set up, you can start welcoming different individuals and non-individuals to connect up with you. What this element does is give you a pool of contacts through which you can put some time in finding whether any could be expected managers or customers. You'll utilize these individuals as references in your different business contacts, just as surveillance for employments out there that are directly for you. Since you have set up your profile (with a complimenting photograph!) and made an enormous cadre of contacts, begin reviewing the activity postings regular, which you can secure under the positions tab at the head of the screen. Likewise, join a gathering that is relevant to your field. For instance, I joined the Twitter for Sourcing and Recruiting bunch since I needed to stay aware of spotters and how they use Twitter to discover new up-and-comers so I can give the exhortation to my customers. These gatherings are extraordinary approaches to meet individuals in the business you're keen on breaking into.

In case You're a Woman Exhausted by #MeToo, Read Michelle Obama's Advice In the event that Michelle Obama could be my closest companion, I would be cool with that. Might you be able to envision her helping you through a separation? The lady consistently comprehends what to state, and she offers the best guidance. That is to say, she was fundamentally Americas life mentor for a long time. Recollect when she attempted to spare we all from youth weight, regardless of nobody (*cough* enormous inexpensive food) needing her assistance? Shes a saint.Luckily for us, Michelle hasnt crawled off to some house with her hills of cash and whatevers left of her genuine feelings of serenity. Shes remained really dynamic in the political scene, shes as yet offering us executioner guidance. Her most recent meeting was brimming with consoling words for ladies depleted by the most recent advancements in the #MeToo movement.Between Brett Kavanaughs selection and another big name being outed ordinarily as an assaulter, its been an extreme scarcely any weeks. Be that as it may, Michelle figures we can keep the ball rolling.Change is certainly not an immediate, smooth way. Theres going to be knocks and obstruction. Theres been a business as usual as far as the manner in which ladies have been dealt with, what their desires have been in this general public, and that is transforming, she said. And with regards to managing pushbacks on ladies being treated as equivalent to men like the #HimToo pattern or the Alt-Right showing up progressively on Twitter Michelle says to look to the future.Theres going to be a little change, a little uneasiness, however I think its up to the ladies out there to state, Sorry. Sorry that you feel awkward, however Im now preparing for the following generation.... Enough is enough. She feels an uncommon association with the cutting edge as a mother, and urges mothers wherever to share their accounts and support whats directly in a sort way. When they go low, we go high, she said. I need to consider that a mother, as somebody who is a good example to little youngsters. We need them to grow up with guarantee and expectation, and we cannot demonstrate something other than what's expected in the event that we need them to be an option that could be better than that.No matter how debilitating it is, #MeToo is rolling out social improvement. Its essential to recollect that. In any case, its additionally imperative to recollect that organizing your own and emotional wellness is likewise significant. Michelle would need you to take a break from sorting out and supporting when youre understanding consumed, or just by and large awful. Also, she would presumably encourage you to take a break from Twitter everlastingly (just saying!).Just dont enjoy a reprieve on November sixth, guarantee? Alright. Much appreciated dolls.

We Interrupt Your Ideas For A Special Announcement
Remember when I promised PiBoIdMoâers that if you ended the month with 30 ideas, there would be a special prize? But I just hadnât figured it out yet? Well, itâs been figured. Everyone who takes the December 1st PiBoIdMo pledge (âI do solemly swear that I have 30 ideas stashed in a Word doc, doodled in a notebook, or scrawled on the back of grocery receiptsâ) will be placed in a random drawing for a grand prize: A literary agent will review your best five ideas and suggest the picture book concepts worth pursuing. (What did you think? That I would let your ideas sit around the house in their jammies all day? Well, maybe YOU can but your ideas shouldnât. This prize will dress them up and get them out into the world. In other words, it will help you decide which ideas should become manuscripts.) The agent will tell you if an idea has been done before or if itâs unique and well-suited to todayâs market. Then the writing is up to you. This isnât a critique, but simply an agentâs best professional opinion regarding which ideas are worth your time. And time is gold in this industry. And just when you thought it couldnât get any better, thereâs THREE grand prizes! One winner will be assigned to Jill Corcoran of Herman Agency Inc.,one will be shipped off to Lauren E. MacLeod of Strothman Agency, and the third gets Elana Roth of Caren Johnson Literary Agency. Thanks to the agents for their time (remember, time=gold) and expertise! So, as youâre formulating your ideas this month, make an effort to flesh them out. The agents will want at least a sentence about each concept. You can only send five ideas if you win a grand prize, so polish them like you would a trophy! A grand prize trophy! To recap: December 1st: Take the PiBoIdMo â30 ideas in 30 daysâ pledge December 4th: Grand prize winners chosen at random from pool of pledgers, receive agent assignment December 7th: Grand prize winners must contact agent by today December 14th: Grand prize winners receive feedback by today (this date subject to change)

47 Habits of Highly Successful Employees
47 Habits of Highly Successful Employees 47 Habits of Highly Successful Employees What do the best individuals out there-the ones who get advancements, raises, and openings apparently gave to them-realize that every other person doesn't? Turns out, a lot. We went to our profession specialists to present to you a total manual for how the most elite methodology their work lives. The uplifting news? All of these propensities is something that you can begin doing-today. 1. They Think About the Skills They Need for the Next Job We as a whole (OK, the vast majority of us) attempt to be amazing at the abilities in our sets of responsibilities, yet the best individuals additionally center around what they'll have to know to prevail in their next occupations. Not certain what abilities you ought to be creating? Look at vocation master Laura Katen's tips for focusing on precisely what to go after straightaway. 2. They Speak Up in Meetings Particularly in case you're in a huge gathering, scared by the higher-ups there, or don't think a lot about what's happening, it's anything but difficult to hold on and tune in. Be that as it may, the individuals who excel don't trust that consent or a greeting will talk they ensure everybody in the room realizes they have something to contribute. Regardless of whether you don't have a recommendation? Talking up to advocate for a collaborator's perspective or posing an all around considered inquiry can go similarly as far, says initiative mentor Jo Miller. 3. They Dress for the Job They Want You've heard it a thousand times-yet it reliably remains constant. Individuals who excel at work look to those above them and copy the garments they wear, yet the manners by which they present themselves in the workplace, collaborate with others, and approach their work. 4. They Get to Know the Higher-Ups It's quite difficult to get advanced if your supervisor's manager doesn't have the foggiest idea what your identity is so make it a point to become acquainted with the higher-ups in your area of expertise. Look at Sara McCord's tips for conversing with your supervisor's manager the correct way. 5. They Know How to Communicate With Those Higher-Ups In the event that you've at any point been in an official level gathering, you realize that c-suiters convey a piece uniquely in contrast to all of us. Thus, on the off chance that you need to make it there sometime in the not so distant future, it's critical to figure out how to talk the discussion. Profession mentor Lea McLeod gives a couple of tips for beginning. 6. They Don't Panic When They're Caught in the Elevator With a CEO Rather, they take advantage of the chance. The uplifting news? We have three friendly exchanges so you'll generally be readied. 7. They Take Charge At the point when confronted with a working environment challenge, a venture detour, or low camaraderie, the vast majority shrug and state, Well, there's very little I can do about it. The best individuals, then again, make a move. 8. They Look for Leadership Opportunities Regardless of whether it's contribution to lead an undertaking group, electing to guide a lesser representative, or volunteering to prepare the new assistants, individuals who need to (and do!) get advanced don't hang tight for administration chances to originate from them-they glance around, see where a pioneer is required, and bounce in. 9. They Make Allies Across the Organization The vast majority make a solid effort to intrigue their supervisors. The best individuals make a solid effort to dazzle everybody from the sorting room representative and assistant to their friends and bosses since they know they're nothing without a group of individuals on their side. 10. They Give People Their Full Attention Listening is one of the top aptitudes businesses look for in potential and current representatives, and it's connected with apparent capacity to lead, McLeod clarifies. Giving individuals full focus, helping them feel spurred and invigorated, and giving them that you care about their considerations and conclusions is more remarkable than you know. 11. They Stay Professional OK need a director who misses cutoff times, neglects to answer messages, and tattles about different workers? Obviously not all that on the off chance that you need to excel, you shouldn't show those practices, either. 12. They Show Up on Time Not on the grounds that it's the pleasant activity, but since it guarantees they get a seat at the gathering room table, not one that is packed in the rear of the room. 13. They Think Like Managers, Not Employees Workers stand by to be determined what to do-directors think deliberately about what should be done, and afterward they do it. Representatives do their own activity well-administrators are focused in the group progressing admirably so they tutor different representatives, contribute when they're required, and go that additional mile on the off chance that it implies the works going to be improved. Furthermore, individuals who get advanced think like supervisors. 14. They Record Their Accomplishments Sadly, regardless of whether your supervisor for the most part figures you work admirably, the individual in question presumably doesn't keep a running count of your accomplishments. Furthermore, that is the reason the best individuals monitor their own business numbers, venture results, and magnificent customer input. (To begin, we suggest keeping a gloat organizer in your inbox.) 15. They Communicate Those Accomplishments To make it one stride further, they don't simply hush up about those achievements they convey them at ordinary registration, toward the finish of large tasks, and most certainly at their official audits. (Here are a couple of approaches to do it without seeming like a snap.) 16. They Focus on Results, Not Just Activities Much the same as you would on a resume, don't simply discuss the tasks you've knocked off your rundown talk about the quantitative consequences of your work. Think: In a week ago's merchant meeting, I had the option to arrange a 10% markdown, which will spare us $20,000 one year from now, versus, A week ago's seller meeting went extraordinary! 17. They Pay Attention to Who Else is Getting Promoted The principles of advancements are somewhat extraordinary each spot you go. A few organizations reward their top-performing sales reps, others advance the individuals who can smooth-talk their way through any gathering. Regardless of whether there's no genuine example, you can gain proficiency with a great deal about the stuff to (in the long run) climb at your association by watching the activities, propensities, and achievements of others who've been fruitful. 18. They Don't Compare Themselves to Others Obviously, it's anything but difficult to believe that in light of the fact that Tim got a raise in the wake of being at the organization for a year, you should, as well. Poorly conceived notion. You'll improve a much case for progressing inside your organization by concentrating on what you've achieved and what you can keep on doing in your new job than whimpering about how you stack up to your partners. 19. They Pitch In At most organizations, there'll be chances to join boards or take on obligations that aren't really an aspect of your responsibilities depiction: Your organization is updating its internet based life systems and requirements an agent from each office to sit on the venture group, say, or your office is putting on a significant pledge drive and needs somebody to facilitate with the occasion arranging organization. The best individuals contribute so they're in every case in that spot where the activity is. 20. They Listen to Feedback Input can be hard to take. In any case, top representatives have made sense of how to pay attention to it without thinking about it literally and all the more critically, how to place it vigorously. (Here's the way they do it.) 21. They Solve Problems Anybody can drop a grievance into the proposal box, yet the marker of a genuinely splendid worker is concocting answers for those issues. Turning into a difficult solver shows that you care about your own vocation, however about the drawn out strength of the business also. 22. They Identify Inefficiencies Regardless of whether there aren't enormous issues, there are most likely things in your work environment that should be possible better or all the more productively. Also, on the off chance that you can be the person who distinguishes those things-just as the best approach to fix them? You won't just make your life simpler you'll demonstrate to your supervisor that you're prepared to improve the whole office's activities. 23. They Steer Clear of Gossip You can and ought to distinguish issues inside your organization, however you ought not pontificate about those issues in the lounge which gives the feeling that you're searching for a group of people, rather than an answer. 24. Be that as it may, They Don't Avoid Politics Altogether Knowing the informal principles of your office-how correspondence occurs, who's on the CEO's side (and who's not), which groups move and shake and which deteriorate might be playing the legislative issues game. Be that as it may, it's a game that will stretch you beyond. (Here's the reason and how.) 25. They Keep Tabs on the Business as a Whole Senior pioneers don't simply have the foggiest idea what's going on in their own utilitarian territory they realize what's happening in their business overall so they can add to the 10,000 foot view. To begin, set up a Google Alert with your organization's name so you're constantly stayed up with the latest on what's going on. 26. They Keep Tabs on Other Parts of the Business On the off chance that there's a region you don't think a lot about-like money, HR, or flexibly fasten acquaint yourself with individuals in that division and approach in the event that you can shadow them for an evening to find out about what they do. 27. They Commit to Learning Finding out about the organization, the business, and the world everywhere the best individuals are posing inquiries, going to gatherings and courses, and continually attempting to enhance their range of abilities and discover some new information. 28. They Stay Positive You don't have to daze each bystander with your silvery whites, however recall that regardless of how close your cutoff time or how substantial your outstanding task at hand, others will submit their general direction to you, says LearnVest's Libby Kane. In case you're speaking harshly to colleagues and grimacing, they'll snap and glare directly back. Rather, slowly inhale, put on a grin, and show your manager you value the chance. It'll go farther than you know. 2

Career Advice Find The Action - Hallie Crawford
Career Advice Find The Action Ive been writing about this Wall Street Journal article, written by Dilbert, creator Scott Adams, How to Get a Real Education, for the past few weeks because its rich with good career advice. The last excerpt that I really liked is Find the action. In my senior year of college I asked my adviser how I should pursue my goal of being a banker. He told me to figure out where the most innovation in banking was happening and to move there. And so I did. Banking didnt work out for me, but the advice still holds: Move to where the action is. Distance is your enemy. Once youve found your dream industry or field that you want to be in, it is best to go where the action is. Look for the innovation in an industry so you can understand where its going and where the most growth potential is. For example, in construction or architecture right now, its green building and design. Finding the action always holds true, except if for some reason it will go against your passion. If you arenât passionate about where the action is, you may want to think twice. You can at least consider it though. At the end of the day, you may be able to find a way to tap into that passion in that area if you at least investigate it. Youll kick yourself if you dont, and be frustrated if the industry takes off in that direction without you. At least consider it. Hallie Crawford Job Search Coach

Job Market The World For Women - Resume Writer For You
Job Market The World For Women Men have always undisputedly lead the job market, since the beginning of the industrial revolution. Even in the 20th century when there was a surge in feminism which started to recognize the so-called weaker sex and walked shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts, the numbers couldnât surpass. The Rise In Women Work Force Albeit the 20th century couldnât see the intersection (men workers=women workers) but saw this gap narrowing throughout. According to the data of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the difference between men and women workers in the 1960âs was 21.1 million which kept on shrinking. It was the April of 2010 when the global meltdown was still a day-old wound, the number of women workers intersected the number of men for the first time. Although, just after the âintersectionâ, the number (of women workers), once again came below men workers, yet the gap since then has been the minimal in the history. The 2 Way Widening Gap There is a significant drop in the number of women earning less than $30000/annum in the course of 40 years; 1975 (79.6%) to 2016 (58.1%). On the other hand, the number of such men over the same time period has risen from 25% to 41%. As it could be seen, the gap between the numbers is working the two way; the women are growing and the men are dipping. From the same time duration (1975-2016), there has been a 14% drop in the share of the incomes in the middle range ($30000-$60000) of (young) men. On the flip side, there has been a rise of 11% in the same range with women. Education The awareness of education has also played an important role in making women stronger in the job market. More than 75% of women in the US have a college degree today as compared to 1975 when there were less than 25/100 college-educated women. Not only the number of women graduates have risen, the number of such women having full-time jobs grew from 43% to 57%. Women In Career World

I'd likewise ensure that my manager secretly comprehends the truth of what went onâ"what my job was in the issue, regardless of whether I shared any of the fault, or what I never really resolve the problem. If you're confronting testing questions, don't worry excessively, and don't let yourself get that deer in headlights look. Dont just write up what you did. Show how well you did it. You Can Not Over Prepare - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
You Can Not Over Prepare - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career So few people make the extra effort; if you do, thatâs really the reason youâll get noticed. In an age of instant response, slow down and think things through. Itâs nice to be fast, but instant responses can prove to be disastrous. Consider othersâ questions and interests, then plan a response. Yes, I know you have limited time and limited resources to do this, but if you donât slow down, pause, and prepare, you will be unable to present yourself, statements, or points clearly. If you seem unprepared, you show that a lack of care toward the other party or the outcome of the discussion. Make sure to: -slow down -get in the moment -consider your audience -construct a message To do that: Seek info in advance, not last minute. Download history surrounding the topic. Consider the current environment. Study the tendencies of people involved. Focus on the person at the other end of the line â" your audience of one or one hundred. Think about what they want to know and why itâs important to them. Overly prepare. Do homework to the nth degree. Think, mull over, ruminate, and weigh anything you should consider about the facts, the project, the different angles, the perspective of people involved. Write down and analyze options. Understand the other personsâ fears, dreams, and desires. Figure out the big drivers. Itâs all about them; where they are coming from, their fears, and their nightmares. See life from their P.O.V so they think âthis person gets me.â Facts and figures are important but feelings count. More decisions are made for emotional reasons than factual. Role play in your mind, even on paper: what will the other party or parties ask, what will they say, what will they bring up that is important to them? Answer, to yourself, every question you might get asked before it is posed. Supervisors or executives will grill you with questions so you might as well ask yourself ahead of time and think through the answer. When the real question comes, it may not be friendly or nice, but your pre-thinking will have reduced your stress. Every time you communicate, practice being smooth. You might think you can stumble all around with a friend and it doesnât make a difference. Wrong. Everything you do is training your brain, so even with friends try for improved conversing. Do not dismiss serious preparation as overkill for a simple phone call and just assume you can wing it. Take a deep breath before you start talking. It helps when your lungs are full of air. And as one CEO told me, âPut on your power shoes and really pay attention.â Stop pondering after youâve absorbed what you can. Decide on the point where no additional information, no cramming, no more thinking is going to help. Preparation increases confidence and optimism and makes you more interesting to whomever you are speaking. People respond well to someone who is sure of what he wants and goes for it. Before you communicate, ask yourself, âWhat do I want to accomplish in this exchange? What is the reason to do this â" both implicit and explicit. Why should she give a darn? What is the likely outcome of this exchange?â And then, after itâs done ask, âDid I accomplish what I set out to?â The higher you go in your career, the more preparation is required, so you might as well get in the habit early.

Arnold Schwarzeneggers Motivation Hour. The Podcast Interview I Was Not Expecting.
Arnold Schwarzeneggers Motivation Hour. The Podcast Interview I Was Not Expecting. Like many of you, I have a commute for my job. To help pass the time, I like to listen to podcasts or books. I find it helps me think of new ideas, hear different perspectives, or solve the challenges Im currently dealing with. So, over the course of a week, Ive filled my brain with dozens of hours worth of information, some more helpful than others. One podcast interview that recently surprised me was the Nerdists interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Lately, Ive seen a lot more Arnold Schwarzenegger content going around the internet with his viral videos helping his After-School All Stars program. Videos like Will it Crush, where Arnold runs over pianos and taxi cabs or his recent Gold Gym video where he impersonated a personal trainer. So I didnt expect anything helpful for my career to come from it. Maybe some interesting stories at most. But about five minutes in, the interview took a turn I didnt see coming. Arnold may seem like a joker or struggling actor based on the recent movies hes put out, but I also forget just how successful his life has been. Hes won Mr. Universe 4 years in a row. Went on to win Mr. Olympia 7 years in a row. Served in the Austrian Army, even though he went AWOL during basic training in order to compete and win the Junior Mr. Europe contest. Immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 21 leaving his family behind. Played roles in over 34 movies, becoming a leading actor despite a thick accent. And finally, was Governor of California. Instead of the podcast being a promotion for his upcoming movies or a look back on his film career, the podcast became an hour for Arnold to share his career wisdom. I highly recommend you listen to the full podcast below. document.createElement('audio'); https://balancedworklife.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Nerdist_496_-_Arnold_Schwarzenegger.mp3 And in case you still arent sold, here are some highlights. On Working Hard (12:00) Just because something is tough doesnt mean you should feel discouraged. Right? Because I think you must be an idiot to go in there and not expect that. It would be the same thing as saying, I want to be the worlds strongest man, I want to be Mr. Universe, I want to be a power lifter, I want to be this, I want to be a champion, I want to be that. And then you walk in the gym and are like, Shit, I have to work out. Its kind of like HELLO, where have you been? On Being Critical of Himself (16:15) Im much harder on myself, then maybe most people are on themselves. In the day of the Mr. Olympia competition I would stand in front of a mirror and say, How the F#$^% does this body win anything? I mean look at this! I still need more deltoids, arms, and more calves. This is still off. In the mean time, I won the Mr. Olympia easily! So Ive always been more critical but I think that makes me more hungry for more. And to never settle for, oh this is wonderful. You did a fantastic job. Now just sit back and relax. I never look back, I always look forward to the next big thing. I think if you are easily satisfied you dont get as motivated to be better. I think if you beat up on yourself thats good. If you want to do your show better, if you want to do your interviews better, if you want to do more research, more snappy, to build a bigger audience. You dont want to just sit there and say everything is going fine. Fine is bullshit. You dont want everything to go fine. You want everythings to go through the roof. You want to shoot for the stars because most likely you wont get there, but youll get further up. Where Did Your Drive Come From (19:30) I had no choice. There was no safety net for if things didnt work out that Id be fine. For me I didnt want to live in Austria. I dont want to be a farmer, I dont want to be a cop. I wanted to go to America to the land of opportunity. So to me it was just a question of how do I get there? I felt maybe its through sports? I picked body building because I saw the cover of this magazine of this guy who played Hercules in the movies. My whole plan was laid out there in front of me. I picked up the magazine and read the article How Rich Park Became Hercules Through Winning Mr. Universe. All of a sudden after winning Mr. Universe he was in the movie business, he made money, he took the money that he made and built a gymnasium. He had this wonderful family, beautiful wife, great children. And I said, wow! His whole life is laid out here. So I just went after that. I felt like this is my opportunity. If I do this, I can get to America. And true enough, after I won the second Mr. Universe title at the age of 21 I became the youngest Mr. Universe. And then I got this invitation from Joe one of the biggest publishers of muscle magazines to come out to America. My vision worked out. But it was not so much that I was disciplined. When you have a vision of what you want to look like, then you can not wait to do the next set. Because you know with each exercise, each rep, each set, you get one step closer to turning your vision into reality. How I Overcame Discouragement (24:15) My vision was to become a leading man. And so many people came up to me and said, This is so stupid Arnold. I mean youre the world champion in body building, why dont you go into food supplements or endorsements, or we can help you start a health food store or teach your training methods you know? Being a leading man, theres no one in the history of America ever, that has become a leading man with an accent. Americans love John Wayne and Kirk Douglas and those kind of guys. Especially with your body. I mean look at you. You weigh 250 lbs. Over developed. The idols today are Woody Allen, Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, these are all small. These are the people we idolize. These are the people they want to see on the screen. Not guys like you. Plus with a name like SchwarzSchnittzzlewhatever. Everyone said no, no, no. So having a clear vision and being passionate about it helped me not listen to that and to go forward and do it anyway. Later the director of Conan said, If I didnt have Schwarzenegger I would have had to build one. Cameron said, Schwarzenneggers accent made him sound like a robot. All of a sudden my body type and accent were not weaknesses but strengths. What Next? A theme Arnold comes back to over and over again in the interview is the power of his vision. Having that clear vision of where he wanted to go helped him overcome many stumbling blocks and challenges that he faced along the way.

How Influential Is Your LinkedIn Brand - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
How Influential Is Your LinkedIn Brand - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career LinkedIn has always been an essential piece of oneâs professional online brand. Recognizing this, Klout, the startup that measures influence on Facebook and Twitter, recently announced the addition of LinkedIn. Is clout important? Klout believes that everyone who creates content has an influence, whether youâre on the âA-listâ or not. Using their tool, they hope to help these individuals understand and leverage that influence online. âAs with every network we measure on Klout, we assess your ability to drive action. Similar to our Facebook and Twitter scores, we analyze who youâre influencing, how youâre influencing them and how much influence they have. Again, weâve placed a heavy emphasis on quality not quantity â" so collecting connections wonât necessarily increase a userâs score.â â" Ash Rust on Kloutâs blog Your overall online influence depends on: True reach â" The size of your engaged audience. Klout looks at individual relationships and determines whether the individual has seen your content, shared it or acted upon it. Amplification probability â" The likelihood that your content will be acted upon. Are folks clicking on your content, sharing it, etc.? Network influence â" The influence level of your engaged audience. Are those people sharing your content and interacting with you influential as well? Mentioned in the announcement blog post, additional connections will not necessarily influence your score. So, how do you increase your influence on LinkedIn? Increase your influence Here are some of my suggestions: Share relevant, interesting content. Most people realize the benefit of sharing content across Twitter, but why not LinkedIn, too? Post articles and news that your network might enjoy and share with others. Join groups and engage in conversation. Share content related to the group to spark conversation. Monitor conversations threads to determine how you can help those individuals looking for advice. Monitor LinkedIn Answers. Spend a few minutes each day looking at recent questions posted on LinkedIn Answers from your network. Browse questions posted related to your industry. Provide advice, tips or share relevant content to help others with their inquiries. How else can professionals strengthen their influence on LinkedIn? Author: Heather R. How to Be More Efficient at Work
How to Be More Efficient at Work Photo Credit â" Pexels.comTimes have changed and so are the ways in which the efficiency and credibility of an individual are tested and looked upon, while analyzing a personâs capacity and outlook at work. While the Japanese regard sleeping at work as an attribute of an employee, since they think that the employee has actually worked so hard that it led him into the beautiful meadows of sleep, while in some economies around the globe, working overtime Social Media has taken the world by storm. According to a research, the increased use of social media during working hours or simply at your workplace, acts a âleechâ which actually sucks in a major chunk of your efficiency. At an average, every one hour use of social media at work place decreases the productivity and efficiency by 1 percent.Disconnect yourself from social media during working hours. Switch off your smartphone and unhook yourself and donât fall prey to the social media animal. Update yourself during the schedul ed breaks and stay focused.2. Get Sufficient Amount of SleepScientists suggest that sleep and efficiency have a direct relationship. A minimum eight hours of sleep daily contributes positively towards increased efficiency at work.A research conducted on a team of 8 individuals was conducted to check the impacts of the amount of sleep which they take on their efficiency at work. 4 individuals were given an average sleep of 8 hours while the other 4 were attributed 4 hours. The group of individuals with a higher sleep rate showed positive signs and were more focused, efficient and energetic at work, while the other 4 four recorded a declination in their work efficiency, by a rate of about 3 percent.A strictly followed regular routine of eating, sleeping and waking prompts the body when itâs time to work, play or rest. Waking up invigorated and bushy-tailed will not only help you maintain focus and will also contribute towards reduced stress levels as well.3. Formulate A Time SchemeA sense of accomplishment is a great motivational trigger towards increased efficiency. Formulate a âto-do listâ in accordance with the importance and nature of the work required to be done.Keep track of your progress. Striking off the tasks from your list upon accomplishment will give the same kick, which you get while seeing a scene in the movie where the âheroâ of the movie slowly walks away from the scene after getting âthe job doneâ. Just Kidding!evalA to-do list will not only help you analyze the timescale and the periods during which your energy and efficiency levels are at the highest, but will also lend a helping hand in deciding when certain tasks should be scheduled.

Is Employee Development Worth It
Is Employee Development Worth It Employee development is a massive part of being a manager or running your own business. If you employ staff, they are a vital part of your company and its success. You need a training plan in place as soon as you start hiring. A way to ensure that your staff are able to perform their duties efficiently and that they have sufficient knowledge of health and safety, hygiene and any other legal requirements that your business needs to meet. They must be legally compliment and able to do their jobs well and to ensure this is your responsibility. But, only a basic level of training is usually required to meet these standards. You could spend an afternoon working with a new member of staff to ensure they know what they are doing, and then leave them to it. You donât ever need to offer that member of staff further training and development, which is often expensive and time-consuming. Yet many of us do. We take the time to develop our staff. To sit down with them to appraise their current performance and find ways to help them to improve. We ask about their plans for the future and help them find ways to meet their goals. We set them targets and build training plans. You might even have a whole department committed to staff training and development or send your team off-site to take training courses and gain extra knowledge. But, why? This additional development can be costly, it takes time out of your day, and means your staff are available to work less. Extra training can also mean that our current systems have to be changed, as we learn new ways to do things. Sometimes, it means that our best staff leave us. They learn so much that we can no longer offer them the challenges and promotions that they need to keep them happy. They get to a point where itâs time to move on to bigger and better things, or even start up on their own, in competition. So, with all of these negatives, why bother with further development? Why not just offer a basic training course to the commencement of employment and then leave it at that? To Keep Everyone Safe One of the primary reasons to invest in some level of training is safety. If your staff use machinery or technology, they should be adequately trained on what to do. Any staff that works with the public should know what to do in the event of an accident or injury. Your team should be offered a cpr renewal regularly so that they have the basic health and safety and first aid training needed to look after themselves, each other and anyone else that they come into contact with. Poorly trained members of staff are one of the leading causes of workplace accidents and injuries, as well as damage to expensive equipment and machinery. If you want your team to remain safe and protected, and your equipment to last, then itâs essential that your staff are well trained. To Motivate Your Team Offering training and development in the workplaces gives your staff something to work towards. This can help to keep them motivated. If they think that there will be opportunities to learn, theyâll work hard. It can also help to improve office morale. Theyâll respect you as a manager or business owner. Theyâll give you more of their focus and commitment because they know that you are invested in them and their development. Theyâll work hard for you, be motivated to achieve more and give you all of their loyalty. To Learn More Yourself Running a business is tough. Especially if you are small and canât afford to hire other people to take over the running of departments like marketing or HR. You have to know it all. You need to be the ideas man, the digital marketing expert, the coach, the HR department, the tech team and the person that develops new ideas and pushes the business forward. You are in charge of recruitment and accounting, as well as meeting clients and pitching for work. You are everything to everyone. Itâs hard. Youâre always busy. But, you still need to make time to learn. Thereâre always new developments in any industry, and courses on offer to gain new knowledge. As much as youâd love to go on them all, and it would certainly benefit your business if you did, you are unlikely to have the time. So, instead, send someone else. Send team members on courses, and theyâll come back with the knowledge to share. They can help you and teach the rest of the team too. To Offer New Opportunities Well trained staff will help your company to grow. As you grow, you might find that you are in a position to take on staff to fill specific positions. Giving you more time to focus on expansion You might suddenly find that you can hire a marketing team. And, because your staff is so well developed, you might already have someone on board to fill the role. To Keep Staff Interested and Engaged Employees get bored. As much as they love a job in the beginning, when the exiting early days where there are challenges to tackle, and thereâs plenty to learn, come to an end, they can get bored. They can feel like every day is the same. Like they are just going through the motions. This can lead to a lack of drive and interest. The quality of their work can start to slip, and you can find that you suddenly have to chat with your staff about their commitment and performance. Offering extra training can keep them interested and engaged. They can find new enjoyment and challenges in a job that theyâve been doing for a long time. They have more to offer and more to think about. Theyâll be proud of where they work. Theyâll be engaged with work and enjoy coming in. To Attract the Best Employees Improving your current staff is a fantastic way to promote from within. It keeps them engaged and interested, motivates them to do more and helps you to grow your business. But, that isnât all. Being the kind of company that takes the time to develop their staff, or invests money in in-depth training programs, helps you to attract the very best team in the first place. When you are recruiting, staff will want to work for you because they know that itâs a position that will afford them more significant opportunities in the future. To Offer Clients the Best If you want to grow your business, you need to be able to offer clients and customers the best service, the best products, and the best experience. To do this, your staff need to be the best. This will help you to keep clients, attract new ones and build lasting working relationships. To Limit Turnover Training can be expensive, and you can face a loss of income if staff have to take time out of the business. But, itâs cheaper than having a high staff turnover. Having to recruit new staff, train them up and integrate them into your company costs money. The more often you do it, the more it will cost. Offer great training programs and development, and your current staff wonât want to leave. Youâll be able to keep the same team for a long time. Saving a fortune on staff turnover. To Make Important Relationships for the Future It is fair to say that eventually, well trained, knowledgeable and experienced staff might want to move on. Your small business might no longer be able to offer them what they need. They might want to start up on their own. When this happens, let them go with grace. Knowing that they might be a vital connection for your business in the future. How and when you train your staff depends on the size of your company and how you want to do things. Some managers choose only to offer further training when legislation or company policies change, or when new developments are made, or new systems and technology introduced. Others are always on the lookout for new ways to educate their staff. Some level of training becomes a regular part of work, and they utilize staff meetings, extra shifts and one on one sessions to offer as much education as possible. Then, thereâs location. Some employers prefer to do all of their training in-house. They even employ full-time trainers as their company grows. This allows them full control over what is being taught and when and gives them a little more flexibility in the structure of training sessions. Others prefer to book their team onto relevant training courses from external companies. This gives them access to a greater knowledge base and gives their staff the chance to learn from qualified professionals and experts from different fields. It gives them a broader knowledge. Of course, there are no hard rules on this. Find a system that works for you and your team. Perhaps even a combination of different approaches. Allowing your staff to learn without affecting the quality of your business. But, whatever you do, make sure you develop your team as much as possible. Itâs well worth it.
